Shay Roddy covering the 2009 World Series
Shay Roddy
Founder/ Managing Editor
Shay Roddy has been covering the Phillies since the 2008 season. Good time to start, huh?
He started over at Bleacher Report, a CBS Sports site, as a Phillies columnist around the All-Star break in 2008. During that run, Shay contributed to FOX 29’s Post-Game show as well as WIP among other platforms.
After covering the Phillies’ run to a World Series title, Shay began to think seriously about starting a site of his own. About two months after the parade down Broad Street, Phillie Phanatics opened as welcome addition to the Phillies media scene.
For the 2009 season, Shay became a Featured Columnist for Bleacher Report, and continued to make several weekly contributions.
In November 2009, on the heels of a rough season for the franchise, where the Phillies lost their voice, Harry Kalas, Shay decided that it would be fitting to change the name to High Hopes: A Phillies Blog to honor the legendary announcer.
